How the Special Edition Conversation Hearts Bear Came to Life

Every Vermont Teddy Bear starts the same way—with imagination.
Our design team is constantly dreaming up new Bear ideas, drawing inspiration from just about everywhere. Sometimes it’s a small batch of fur discovered in a local fabric shop. Sometimes it’s an iconic holiday tradition. Sometimes it’s a meme that makes us smile.
For the Conversation Hearts Bear, inspiration came from a Valentine’s Day classic: those tiny candy hearts that say everything from “Be Mine” to “True Love.” Sweet, nostalgic, and full of feeling—just like the holiday itself.
Once inspiration strikes, our designers sketch, refine, and re-sketch until every detail feels just right. The shape, the expression, the personality—nothing is rushed. When the final sketch is approved, it’s shared with our artwork and production teams to begin the next chapter of the Bear’s journey.

Our Artwork and Production teams transform the original sketch into a physical prototype—a real, huggable Bear that can be held, examined, and perfected before it ever goes into production.
The Conversation Hearts Bear is brought to life using candy-inspired hues that feel instantly nostalgic, carefully chosen to echo the sweetness of classic Valentine treats.
Every element is thoughtfully considered, from the precise cutting and sewing of the fur to the careful placement of the eyes and joints, measured stuffing for just the right fluff, and signature back-stitching that ensures lasting quality.
Each paw pad is hand-dyed using sublimation, a process that took multiple samples to perfect the colors, clarity, and overall look. The eyes? Custom printed just for this Bear. We even swapped out the traditional “o’s” for tiny hearts, adding a playful wink. Once every detail met our highest standards—and earned final approval from our design team—this Special Edition Bear was ready to be made for the world.
